Therapeutic Services

The Therapeutic Services Program provides a wide range of clinical interventions and therapeutic modalities to best serve the needs of children, teens, and adults. To further High Sky’s mission to heal abused children and promote family wholeness, our therapists provide client-centered, trauma-informed care.

Currently, we provide therapeutic services exclusively to children and families involved with Child Protective Services or youth living in High Sky residential care. We are not accepting community referrals at this time. We do not accept self-pay clients or clients utilizing their insurance benefits. We will expand our therapy services in the future; interested clients should check our webpage periodically for program updates.

Therapy Modalities

Our therapists have their own areas of clinical interest and professional passion. Not every therapist is trained in every modality. Below is an example of some of the therapeutic services our clinicians provide.

EXPRESSIVE ARTS THERAPIES- Our therapists use techniques from various expressive arts therapies (art, dance, drama, play, and sand tray) to express thoughts and feelings, strengthen the therapeutic relationship, and aid the therapeutic process.

  • ART THERAPY- uses active art-making, the creative process, and applied psychological theory within a psychotherapeutic relationship to enrich the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
  • DANCE/ MOVEMENT THERAPY – assumes that body and mind are interrelated and is defined as the psychotherapeutic use of movement as a process that furthers the emotional, cognitive, and physical integration of the individual.
  • DRAMA THERAPY – is the systematic and intentional use of drama/theater processes, products, and associations to achieve the therapeutic goals of symptom relief, emotional and physical integration, and personal growth.
  • PLAY THERAPY – uses the therapeutic powers of play to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.
  • SAND TRAY THERAPY – is a hands-on and expressive approach that uses miniature figurines and sometimes water to build scenes and stories within a sand-filled tray.
  • EQUINE-ASSISTED THERAPY – We offer Equine-Assisted therapy according to the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) Model.  This model requires a licensed, credentialed Mental Health Professional and a qualified Equine Specialist to work as a team to structure therapeutic sessions to address the client’s treatment plan or learning goals, helping with issues such as addiction, domestic abuse, behavioral disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma.  We are proud to partner with two EAGALA Certified Equine Specialists.
  • PSYCHOTHERAPY –  also known as traditional therapy or talk therapy. There are many types of talk therapy, and different styles are helpful for different people. The client and therapist work in partnership to utilize discussion and reflection to process feelings and emotions and make progress toward healing.
  • ADDITIONAL THERAPEUTIC OFFERINGS
  • MNEME ART THERAPY – is not to be confused with Art Therapy. Mneme Art Therapy focuses on stimulating both sides of the brain to engage the whole brain, using arts in an instructional way.
  • MUSIC THERAPY – the prescribed use of music to effect positive changes in the psychological, physical, cognitive, or social functioning of individuals with health or educational problems.
