Our Story
In 1961, 100 acres of land west of Midland was purchased. Over our 60-year history, the Ranch has significantly expanded its facilities and services.
1963
Nobles Home completed, and doors opened to Girls Ranch
1966
Fraternal Order of Eagles built two more youth homes: Casa Home and Eagles Home
1972
J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation built Administrative Home
1975
Blakemore Park, tennis courts, and basketball goals added
1982
J.E. & L.E. Mabee & Abell-Hanger Foundations built two new youth homes
1983
Allen K. Trobaugh Library Learning Center built through community donations
1985
Re-licensed to work with boys and girls, name changed to High Sky Children’s Ranch
1986
J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation built recreation area, playground, and pool
1987
Implemented international Teaching Family Model
1989
Began S.T.A.Y. Together Runaway Prevention Program
1990
Began Therapeutic Foster Care Program
1991
Purchased first community home through M.S. Doss & J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundations.
1992
Built additions to Casa and Doss-Mabee Homes
Harriet & Harvey Herd Home built for additional youths

Began Eagles Emergency Shelter -Developed 6-year plan for Major Maintenance

Jackie Carter Home on High Sky Campus
2007
Patrick S. Gerald Sports Center Gymnasium opened – project coordinated by Glenda Kelly
2008
Opened Abell-Hanger Emergency Shelter
2009
Began Equine Therapy Program – Kid’s Art Program

Began Adoption Services

Began Foster Care and PAL/LIFE in San Angelo
2013
Expanded STAY Program to include Pecos and surrounding areas

Began Partnering with Parents Program

New Community of Hope Admin Building opened

Expanded Trauma Based Services to children and families and increased Foster Care Program by 40%
2017
Began $15,000,000 Campus Capital Campaign
